Job Summary:

The Workday Technical Leader will be responsible for full technical ownership of the Workday platform, overseeing the implementation, configuration, and support of Workday HCM and Payroll modules. This role requires a hands-on leader who can provide technical guidance, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure the successful deployment and optimization of Workday solutions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders within the organization and collaborate effectively with implementation partners.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team to support the Workday platform globally, ensuring Payroll and HCM project completion and success while preventing disruption to the existing system and operation. This team will consist of both in-house teammates and contract resources.
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture, set clear vision and objectives, motivate, and develop team members for exceptional performance and contribution.
  • Take full technical ownership of the Workday platform.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Workday platform and a partner to the businesses utilizing the HCM and Payroll capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders within the organization, approaching collaborations with a proactive and cooperative mindset.
  • Identify strategies, risks, and options, recommending approaches and mitigations to meet client/functional requirements.
  • Partner with the business to deploy new modules and features, ensuring the full leverage of our Workday investment.
  • Advise internal partners on industry standards and best practices.
  • Design and implement a robust release management process to ensure Workday releases are thoroughly reviewed and tested prior to implementation.
  • Consort with Merger & Acquisition team and define solutions and options to onboard and integrate newly acquired companies onto the Workday platform. This also includes divestitures.
  • Oversee the production support of the platform and eventually explore opportunities to outsource work where possible.
  • Implement effective and efficient monitoring for 50+ integrations across HCM and Payroll.
  • Forge and lead strong relationships with vendor partners and implementation partners. Leading contracting and governance.
  • Develop standard operating procedure documentation to ensure cross-training and eliminate single points of failure.
  • Ensure all system changes to platform or security configurations adhere to internal controls.
  • Develop a strong and fit-for-purpose analytics capabilities to support our Payroll, HCM, Technology and Operational needs.
  • Assess IT general controls and IT dependent controls
  • Basic knowledge of key business processes preferred (Onboarding/Recruiting, Employee, Total Rewards, PTO/Holiday, Timekeeping, Payroll)
  • Supporting efforts to align IT with business objectives.
  • Communicating complex, technical IT information concisely to non-technical personnel.
  • Continuously looking for opportunities to improve and implement them effectively.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with a detailed understanding of the Workday System, emphasizing one or more modules.
  • Extensive knowledge of Human Capital Management and Payroll functions (benefits, compensation, performance management, talent acquisition, recruiting, onboarding, time and attendance, etc.).
  • Completion of multiple full implementations with Workday HCM and Payroll.
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders within the organization.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong focus on systems and data security, and compliance.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Up to 25% travel.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college/university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
