Job Summary:
The Director, HR Services provides strategic leadership for a high-performing team of HR professionals responsible for delivering critical HR services across multiple states. This role establishes and drives the vision, strategy, and operational execution of HR service delivery to ensure high-quality support, compliance, and continuous improvement. The Director leverages technology, data, and best practices to optimize employee and internal client experience and to scale services in alignment with organizational growth, including M&A activity. This is a highly visible, hands-on, and strategic leadership role requiring strong business acumen, operational excellence, and a commitment to customer service.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the HR Services team, ensuring high performance in areas including background checks, drug screening, accommodations, unemployment claims, license verifications, healthcare sanctions, and other compliance-related support.
  • Lead the development and execution of HR Services strategy, aligning service delivery with organizational goals and evolving business needs.
  • Build and maintain a strong, scalable team through effective leadership, coaching, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Define, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to drive accountability and ensure service excellence.
  • Champion a culture of customer service, ensuring ongoing measurement and enhancement of internal client satisfaction.
  • Lead the successful integration of acquired teams into standardized HR Services processes during M&A activity.
  • Drive the adoption and optimization of HR technology and automation tools to enhance service efficiency, scalability, and user experience.
  • Establish governance and stakeholder engagement models to ensure transparency, alignment, and responsiveness across HR Services.
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior HR and business leadership, using data and insights to shape decisions and inform process improvements.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, vendor capabilities, and regulatory changes to proactively evolve the HR Services function.
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR Centers of Excellence, HRBPs, Compliance, and Operations to identify needs and deliver high-impact solutions.

Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on HR Services, Shared Services, HR Operations, or similar.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, including direct people management and team development.
  • Proven success in leading HR service delivery within a multi-state or national organization; healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with M&A integration, change management, and operational transformation.
  • Proficiency with enterprise HR systems (e.g., Workday, Oracle, UKG).


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to travel on a monthly or quarterly basis; frequency may fluctuate based on business needs
  • Majority (90%) of work is conducted indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.


Salary Range:
$145,000 - $165,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
